Sunday Worship: “Liberty and Justice for All”

In a time when bigotry disguises itself as religious freedom, this Fellowship believes it is important to reaffirm its commitment to welcoming all people, regardless of identity or sexual orientation. Our theme this Sunday, July 29, is “Liberty and Justice for All”. Kevin Lish is co-founder and current Board Chair of All Under One Roof, a local advocacy group providing free HIV testing, support and resources for people who identify as LGBTQAI+.

Kevin will talk about the legal code regarding HIV and discrimination by HIV Status in Idaho and the nation. Pastor Jenny Peek will also report briefly on feedback gathered at the PUUF booth at Pocatello’s Pride Festival earlier this summer. Visitors to the booth were invited to write down ideas about how religious organizations can work together more effectively with the LBGT community. Music for the service will be provided by Mark Neiwirth.

Kevin Lish grew up in Pocatello, moving from Newport News, Virginia, just in time to begin the first grade. He graduated with high honors from Pocatello High School in 1980. He went to Gonzaga University for 2 years and returned home to graduate from ISU with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He has been with the Mutual of Omaha companies for nearly 30 years, qualifying for nearly all sales awards and serving from 1992 through 1997 as the District Sales Manager for Idaho for Mutual of Omaha. In addition to his work for All Under One Roof he led the organizing effort of the Idaho Coalition for HIV Health and Safety and continues to lead the effort to modernize Idaho’s HIV Criminalization Code, 39-608.

Guests are welcome and there will be informal conversation and light refreshments afterward.
