If you were to ask members of the public how they understand Unitarian Universalism (UU), many would say we are a religious group focused on spirituality and not so much religion. What distinguishes us to a large extent from many of the “Abrahamic” churches is that we are not a dogmatic church; we are not obliged to accept a dogma to be a member in good standing. Rather, we follow a covenant of seven principles. Religious Exploration (RE) offers an opportunity to delve into one’s own beliefs and those of other RE participants with respect. RE which meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays provides an opportunity to explore three topics: religion, spirituality or social justice presented by the attendees themselves. RE also provides an important opportunity to get to better know your fellow fellowship members and friends by enjoying a deeper relationship through learning and discussion that is often not experienced at worship service. Hence there is “UU fellowship” every Sunday throughout the school year.
